Penguin Men beat Maccabi in the Winter League
Feb 25, 2010, 2:32 pm

Penguin Men took a resounding victory over Maccabi in their Winter League match at St Paul's School last night.

Penguin went ahead in the first quarter 2-0 and Maccabi were playing catch up from then on thanks to excellent goalkeeping by Nilo Falcini throughout the match and sharp shooting from Nick Beard and Piers Martin in particular.

Penguin remained dominant in the second quarter, taking the score to 5-1 at half time and extending the lead to 9-3 in the third. In the final quarter we scored two more before losing Mark Bullerwell to injury.

Final score 11-5.

GB Youth vs Penguin Experience
Feb 9, 2010, 2:11 pm

Last weekend the GB womens U19 team was at Crystal Palace for one of their training camps. The Penguin Ladies 1st team was invited to go along and play against them, giving both teams the opportunity to practise different tactics and styles of play in a friendly training environment.

At the end of the day our experience and strength won over youth and speed but all in all a great weekend of water polo.

Penguin Women's 1st Team get the new year off to a great start
Jan 12, 2010, 2:34 pm

Well done to the women’s 1st team who started the new year by winning in both their National League games in Bath this weekend.

After much discussion it was confirmed that the matches would go ahead despite the snowy conditions, so we headed to Bath to take on our London rivals Otter in the opening game of the weekend.

For most of us this was the first time back in the water for a few weeks because recent training sessions had been cancelled due to the extreme weather. After a rusty start we kicked into gear and took the match (7-4).

Our second next game was against Liverpool B, which was another win (9-4).

All in all a great result!

The final NWWPL Division 1 weekend will be in Manchester on 30 and 31 Jan 2010.

Penguin Men hold on to their Division One ranking
Dec 13, 2009, 12:14 pm

Well done to the Penguin men's team who held on to our place in the National League top flight with a 13-7 win over Division Two runners-up Polytechnic in the play-off at Loughborough University yesterday.

The game was fairly even during the first two quarters, when we were leading 5-3. Then we eased clear by winning the third, 6-1.

The whole team played well but Peter Csorgo was key to our success, finishing with six goals.

This means we retain an unbroken presence in Division One dating back to 1982.

We even made it onto Water Polo World!

First Team Women win against Liverpool
Dec 15, 2009, 2:56 pm

This past weekend saw the 1st team women travelling west to Cardiff to take on Liverpool B where they won 9 – 5.

So far we're on target for to achieve our season's aim.

Ladies, enjoy the mince pies and the mulled wine wherever you are, and look forward to seeing you all in the pool at the next game against our London rivals – Otter - on the 9th Jan 2010.
