This was an over-40s tournament with teams from Russia, Germany, Holland, Spain, Italy and Brazil to name a few. Our boys had several good games to reach the semi-finals but lost 10-8 to the eventual winners, Dynamo Moscow. A good time was had by all with everyone looking forward to the next tournament in 2 years time.

Final weekend of the BWPL Women's Super 5s
Jan 20, 2013, 12:10 pm

Penguin Emperors at the final weekend of BWPL Women's Super 5s in Guildford in Jan 2013The opposition proved too strong in our final two games of BWPL Women's Super 5s in Guildford yesterday. But despite this we still finished 5th in the league overall.

Otter's scoreline raced away from the outset, whereas our shots could only hit the woodwork and never found the back of the goal. Although there were some great saves by goalie Lorelle it was runaway victory for our London rivals. See photos from the match (with thanks to Trevor Hyde).

Manchester proved equally masterful with lightning quick attacks that took them to a resounding win.

However our first team can still be proud of their achievements. It was always going to be a tough season - we had no pool time over the summer, we said goodbye to several seasoned team mates and we've been plagued by injury. However we held our place in the top division and it was great to have new members Chev and Justine make their BWPL debut this weekend.

Pictured here:
Back row: Marta Tufet, Charlotte Hanson, Lorelle Dooley, Alex Andrews
Front row: Julia Petchey, Siobhan (Chev) Williamson, Claire Martin, Lis Holmes and Justine Healey.

Great results for Penguin women in London Winter League
Jan 17, 2013, 2:57 pm

Penguin ladies performed well last weekend, winning three out of four matches in the first round of the London Winter League.

We had a tough opening match against London Otter, fighting to keep the score line down but still suffering a 2-8 defeat.  In our second match we enjoyed a runaway victory (8-0) against Ealing.  Tiredness crept in for the remaining two games but the girls kept up a good effort to win both (3-1 against Beckenham and 2-1 against Iceni).
The matches saw London League debuts for Siobhan Williamson, Justine Healey and Kirsty Neale.
