Penguin Kings played their second British League weekend at Pond’s Forge in Sheffield on 23rd and 24th October. We had a slow start with ill-discipline proving to be no match for solid play by Coventry, resulting in a 5-14 loss.
However we picked ourselves up from the first game and entered into a spirited battle against Sheffield B. Despite strong play from Penguin in this crucial match, a farce with the clocks and referees significantly contributed to our defeat, 2-4.
Our final game was versus old rivals Mid Sussex Marlins. After a good start including a Penguin lead of 2-0 going into the second quarter, the Marlin’s teamwork helped them overcome our resistance leading to a 6-12 scoreline.
Penguin highlights of the weekend included Sonia Spearing entering the season to take the top goalscorer hat with 6 goals.
