The British League for the Penguin Kings (women’s second team) continued last weekend at the Walsall baths.
Our first match was against Bristol, one of the top teams in the League. A spirited Penguin resistance, including five goals in the 3rd quarter, was not quite enough to secure us a win. Final score 7-12.
Next we faced one of the most experienced teams in the League, Manchester C. We held a narrow one-goal advantage going into the last quarter but excellent team play and an explosive 7 goal spree propelled us to a decisive 13-8 win.
On Sunday we faced our traditional rivals, the experienced Solihull team. Again this was a closely fought game in which Penguin deservedly earned lots of man-up opportunities. However Solihull converted more of their opportunities leading to a 5-9 scoreline.
