We are sad to report the death of Bernard Castle on 9th March 2011, following a short illness.
Ben was a prominent member of the Club in the 1950s. He was a first class water polo player and swimmer and took part in all the Club activities at that time. See a picture of him in the team that visited Jersey in 1951.
As a Vice President of the Club, Ben maintained a keen interest in Penguin even after he emigrated to New Zealand, through his many friends and the website. On his visits back to the UK he would often have a swim with the Masters section, and he came to our summer party at Hampton Pool in 2009 (pictured here).
Ben recently sent a number of items which have been included in the history section of this website, and he was a generous contributor to the fund which financed the Ron Turner Memorial Trophy.
We will miss him.
