Penguins Lisa Williams, Adam Levy and Bronwyn Donne faced tough currents in the 3.8km Long Swim in Southbourne, Bournemouth, yesterday.
The event, organised by Votwo in partnership with the RNLI, saw swimmers head out from the beach to complete a three lap off-shore route before finishing back on the beach.
After the event Lisa commented, “That was ridiculously hard – the current was really strong and my time was about 28 minutes slower than usual! It was really tough going and I almost dropped out before first lap was over.” However Lisa battled through in a time of 1:29:04, placing her 8th in category (senior female) and 54th in total.
Adam added “Add a bit of motion sickness and feeling like it would never end and that was my race summed up!” Adam finished 77th overall and 19th in the senior men category, in a time of 1:48:02.
Bronwyn came in soon ater Adam in 1:51:39 echoing Lisa and Adam’s sentiments, “It really was hard.” Bron finished 13th in category and 79th overall.
Well done all!
