Big congratulations to Penguin Masters swimmer Gill Turner on completing the challenging Coast to Coast walk recently.
Alfred Wainwright’s classic 192 mile walk crosses England from the Irish Sea at St Bees to the North Sea at Robin Hood’s Bay, traversing the Lake District, the Pennines and the North York Moors.
Gill swapped costume, hat and goggles for walking boots and waterproofs to complete the route, covering between 9 – 17 miles per day (with one day of 21 miles) and daily ascents of between 1,000 feet and 2,400 feet.
At 71 years young, Gill is one of our longest-standing members and this achievement – along with her dedication to swimming and the Club – is truly inspiring.
Well done, Gill!
