We’re thrilled that Penguin junior Amber Restall was selected to play in the Girls U16 Inter Regional Championships which took place recently.
Amber started training at Uxbridge in September last year. Already a successful competitive swimmer at Amersham Swimming Club, she had little experience of water polo but immediately impressed coach Claudio Palumbo who wanted her to play for the London team. Unfortunately, because Amber lives outside London this was impossible, so she got a place in the South East team instead.
Going into the competition, South East were seeded last, and Amber travelled to the competition in Liverpool on 28 May with low expectations. However, the team played brilliantly, winning three out of four matches on the first day and securing a place in the semi-finals on the second day.

In the semi finals South East were beaten by London and by Ireland, who went on to win the competition. They finished in 4th place which is a great result.
The London team, coached by our own coaches Claudio and Dariusz, finished in bronze medal position. As a very young team they were delighted by this result and we are very pleased for them.

Congratulations to Amber, Claudio , Dariusz and also Tilly who trains at Ibstock School and registered with Penguin to compete in the London team.
