Our Junior water polo squad organised a friendly water polo tournament at Uxbridge on Sunday 2nd July.
The idea stemmed from disappointment that water polo did not take place at the London Youth Games this year. The LYG was an excellent event for us for many reasons, not least because it gave our older players a chance to compete at a less demanding level than the London League. We spent months hoping for some sort of replacement London Borough Water Polo Tournament . Yet, despite all Ian Grimwood’s hard work, this was not to be.
So we decided to capitalise on our close ties with the Harrow team, based at John Lyon school, since they and we are coached by Shaun Hill. We invited Enfield as a third participant and the ever-amazing Martin Waller, brought a whole posse along, despite a clash with his own club’s booking of an outdoor pool!
Matches were played on 2 pitches; one for Under 15s and the other for Under 13s.

The event went fantastically well. It really was a ‘Friendly’ in the true sense of the word. All the coaches and children were delighted to be taking part. It provided great refereeing experience for Adam Maidment, our volunteer coach.
