Our Under 14 team competed in the LWPL Winter Championships (Div 1 North) this weekend and were against some strong opposition with the likes of Ealing and Watford.
The team played exceptionally well in the opening game vs Watford B. Everyone in the squad had the opportunity to play as the matches were played in 10 mins halves.
The remaining games were tough as the opposition fielded fast swimmers and strong shooters. But we had a never-give-up-attitude and kept attacking and looking to score, and worked well as a team.
Regardless of the score lines, there were plenty of positives to take from the games and we know what to work on next year. All in all it was a good experience-gaining tournament.
There were several notable performances…
… Audrey was dynamic regardless of the opposition and played even better when we faced off with stronger teams. Her name against the goals scored did not do justice to her wonderful contributions in the game.
… Oliver continued to improve both in attack and defence.
… Aryan shone as a team player and was already ready to get back in after a quick rest.
… Will showed glimpses of being a dynamic player who can play anywhere in the pool.
… Aberlado was sprinting up and down and making the crucial breaks to score when needed.
Our focus going forward will be on doing the basics exceptionally well so that we can compete at the highest level against much stronger opposition.
The future looks promising. Go Penguins!
