The Hillingdon Juniors were fortunate to receive a Small Grant Award from the Jack Petchey foundation of £750 towards the cost of new equipment. We used this to help buy a new goal. This was urgently needed as our existing goals are suffering from wear and tear.
The goal arrived last week and we hoped to use it for our End of Term Fun Tournament on Saturday 24 March. The supplier had assured us that it would be simple to assemble. In the event, it wasn’t simple at all and required tools we didn’t have. We had to start the tournament without it but Sam, a very determined mum, refused to give in and enlisted another parent, Anton, and one of the Fusion team leaders, to work on it. After an hour it was more-or-less built and they managed to get it in the water just in time for the final game.
We will complete the assembly after Easter. A complicated challenge brought out the best in our section. Great to see the parents seize the opportunity and take responsibility to provide a better experience for the children.
